- Integrating satellite data and machine learning for environmental applications.
Research Projects
Enhancing Snow Property Estimation with GeoAI and High-Resolution Satellite Data (SNOWAI): Employing time-series data from freely available SAR and optical satellite imagery within a GeoAI framework to predict snowpack properties in Western Norway. It also explores the impacts of snowpack variability on the cryosphere and biosphere.
Thunderstorm Nowcasting over Lake Victoria using Deep Learning and Satellite Data: Adapting overshooting-top detection and CNN/ConvLSTM models to MSG SEVIRI satellite imagery in order to forecast severe thunderstorms over Lake Victoria, aiming to improve early-warning systems for local communities and navigation safety.
